Colony Bay Resort Punta Cana

Ok people, I'm a down to earth type of guy who just got back from Punta cana (Jan 18 - Jan 24 2009) I would like everybody to know what they are geting themselves into.

THE HONEST TRUTH:

24 hr snack bar was a popcorn machine, food was terrible (except the pizza... I'll give them that). Icecream bar was open one day (and only once we enquired about it.) The staff was nice... the resort was tiny, the coffee was instant (ewww... c'mon, they actually produce coffee in santo domingo... why use instant?), there was no such thing as orange juice (what they had was obviously a powder mix, close to 'Tang'...) 90% of the staff didnt speak a word of english ( I found myself playing translator most of the time because I can speek Spanish, Italian and English), the phones didnt work, the roofs leeked, the rooms were stuffy and moldy, there was no hot water untill mid day since all the water was heated by solar energy (dont get me wrong I'm all for saving the planet... but NOT for showering with ICE WATER in the morning) ... the list goes on and on.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE: the guests were great! (all arround 30 of us)

DID I MENTION:

This "resort" just opened January 2008 (and as we found out when we got there this year it had just re-opened again.) there were people who had been there last year (that were sent there free since there time last year was also horrid) that told me and my group that nothing had changed.
