The Scenic Highway Linking Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown May 06, 2012
The Colonial Parkway is a 22 mile (37 km) tree-lined scenic drive across the Virginia Peninsula that connects Williamsburg with Jamestown and Yorktown. Along the way are numerous scenic overlooks with interpretive markers telling the story of that particular locale.

The Colonial Parkway was built between 1937 and 1957 and is maintained by the National Park Service as part of Colonial National Historical Park. The Yorktown-Williamsburg section was built first, in the 1930s. The Williamsburg-Jamestown section was completed in 1957 in time for the 350th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown. Even today, the parkway is the fastest way to travel between Williamsburg and Jamestown and Yorktown, but don't forget to stop at the scenic overlooks!

The roadway is three lanes paved with a coarse material to resemble an early road. (It isn't your typical freeway or motorway.) The center lane is for passing and there are no painted lane stripes. The Williasmburg entrance is right by the Colonial Willimsburg visitor center off of Route 132Y.

If you have a car in Williamsburg, driving the Colonial Parkway is a must!
