Colonel Brooks' Tavern Washington Reviews
Nice local bar and restaurant with killer crab dip-yum! Jun 09, 2010
It's been there since the 1970s and it's a staple of the neighborhood. It's a spot the locals hang out at. It's a basic set-up with fairly decent food and the BEST carb dip ever. Advance notification that you WILL burn the roof of your mouth because they put it down in front of you and your mouth begins to water and you just have to have it without waiting for it to cool off.
Parking is a little short, but they have a small lot in the rear. It's a block or two walk from the Brookland metro stop (on the Red line). It's a nice low key spot to watch sports at the bar. If you have vision problems, be sure to get a seat by the window as the lighting is a little dim. If you are watching your carb intake and you order a burger, instead of getting the fries that come with the meal, most times, you can get sweet potato fries, coleslaw, spinach or some other options just for asking.
The menu is traditional American fare, burgers, po-boys, entrees, salads, etc...
