As I said up there in the summary, I'm a dashingly handsome 3yr old Teddy Bear called Paddy (short for Patrick - but I'm actually quite tall - over 20cms!) from Scoil Cnoc na Naomh, a primary school in Doire Chonaire, Gort an Choirce, Dhún na nGall (Donegal in Ireland). I'm being sort of 'bear-napped' by this PaulKernan guy who is taking me on his travels to Spain and Colombia.
I've seen lots of the world already, been to Disney World Paris, Australia, USA, Scotland and England but this is ...

After much planning and saving, I've finally made the leap across the atlantic and landed in beautiful Bogota. I chose the Madrid route so I could get a glimpse of that wonderful city en-route. The flight was 11 hours of the usual excitement mixed with stiff neck, itchy legs and nodding off to sleep. The flight attendants were competent but seemed to prefer chatting amongst themselves in the galley rather than attending... still I understand Iberia staff are famous for this skill (and not the...

Bogotá
Bogotá is the capital of Colombia. It’s located at an elevation of about 2,650 meters (8,660 feet) on a mountain-rimmed plateau high in the Cordillera Oriental of the Andes Mountains near the equator. Its strategic location gives it spring-like weather, healthy vegetation and gorgeous flowers during the whole year.
Bogotá is sometimes called the “Athens of South America.” It is a picturesque city known for its colonial architecture, collection of pre-...

I have always been fascinated by volcanoes. I remember being so impressed when, as a kid, I read that story of a farmer in Mexico who in 1943 saw some steam coming out of his corn field through large cracks that opened in the Earth... He and his family witnessed the birth of a new volcano! The Paricutin now stands 424m tall over its surroundings. Just imagine having a volcano pop up in your backyard... This volcano has now been dormant since 1952.
Later on, spectacular images of volcan...

After three days, including one cancelled flight, I finally made it to the last continent on my world tour, starting in Bogota, Colombia. Luckily it´s been a week since my journey so I no longer care to complain about some of the hassles I dealt with in LAX, but being on U.S. soil was strange and a bit depressing really. I think I glimpsed what I will feel like when my trip comes to an end.
But here I am, still on the road and glad for it! A good friend´s brother...

Cartagena is a very beautiful city. The old city is enclosed in thick walls and protected by several old fortresses. In some places the walls are 40 feet thick and 40 feet high. The huge fortress overlooking the city on the hilltop is quite impressive with a labrynth of passageways inside the walls of the fort and great views over the city and ocean. The old city ajoins the new city of high-rise condos and a fancy harbor. The old city is very charming with narrow streets and old crumbling bui...

Spend more time in The Botero Museum.
Go to the Museum of Gold, La Casa de la Moneda, Museo del Banco de la Republica.
Go to the 20 de Julio Museum- a copy of the declaration of Independence is here and the house is also the house where all the revolution started.
Visit Monserrate - the church on top of the hill.
Take a day trip to Zipaquira where the Salt Cathedral is located.
Take a day trip to Villa de Leyva: a colonial town about 1 hr ouside the city limits.

The start of our journey!Well we are finally here! Felt like 2 days of
travelling, and in fact it was as we left on 4th Sept from Chch to
Auckland at 11am (flight 1hr), then Auckland - Buenos Aires at 4:30pm
(flight 12hrs) and then we had to rush like mad to get to the transit
counter as our flight was leaving in 45mins for Bogota! The line was
pretty long, but slowely but surely we got there and were on our way.
Annoying thing was though that the flight didn´t leave for another hour

Reunited with the boys on the streets of Colombia I found myself in familar territory once again, on a mission to find some op shop clothes! Having walked for most the day already I was tempted to wait at the hostel but the boys were brimming with excitement, frothing at the prospect of some good dressups so I thought I owed it to them as a mate to accompany them on such a fine journey! 3 hours later we were still wondering the streets in our normal get up, no op shop found only som...

July 19th:
A trip I’d been waiting to take for what seemed like an eternity finally came, Colombia! Our bags were packed, the animals in good hands, and we were off! We met my Aunt Sue and her two youngest daughters, Debbie and Celeste, at the Philly International Airport. Mom, Dad, Monica (sister), Aunt Sue and I had a flight out of Philly to Miami. Here, in Miami, we waited for Debbie and Celeste who had a later flight to Miami. We also met up with Aunt Sue’s oldest daughter, Christine...

ok this is gong to be interesting... I’m such a picky eater BUT I found great pictures and I can describe what it is. Try most things and don’t ask what it is until you decide if you like it. Otherwise you wont eat half the things... hahaha it is true! and maybe that's why I've tried so many different things! we do not eat bugs but all parts of the cow/chicken/pork are popular.
I'll start with what I looove and miss: My craving is always Manga biche, not MangO, ManGA! it is a different f...

I really love Colombia. The first time I went here IN 2001, I spent a month in Medellin, but this trip decided to travel around the country. I had a friend who grew up here so I stayed with him and his family. I understand many people think Colombia is dangerous and stay away from this great country, but as long as you take precautions and understand what not to do, the trip is not as dangerous as it seems. It helped that I knew someone to show me around also.
Medellin is a great city. Smal...
