Today, a group of us - Gillian (Gillybob), Ann ( Anngel), Nancy (cnango), Jeff, Hans and I, went to COCOA BEACH.

We left around 10:00 a.m. and it was about an hour's drive to Cocoa Beach from Disney. We all piled into our minivan and headed out to the toll road that takes you there. I programmed my GPS for Ron Jon's Surf Shop. The place was huge. We gave everyone an hour to do what they wanted and met at the van for 1:00 p.m.

We then headed over to the Cocoa Beach Pier to have some lunch. We had lunch at Pelican's. We than had a stroll at the end of the Pier, where many fishermen were casting their rods. Didn't see many fish being caught tho.

The town of Cocoa Beach was established on June 5, 1925. Cocoa Beach began its major growth period during the 1960's as a result of American's Space Program. NASA John F. Kennedy's Space Center is located about 15 miles north.

We were hoping to see a launch that was scheduled for that day, but alas it was cancelled the day before.

Tourism: Ron Jon's, a surf shop, has 2 million visitors a year. Cocoa Beach is home to the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame.

The Cocoa Beach Pier, which was built in 1962, juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. It is filled with shops and restaurants.
