Off Night? Mar 11, 2013
It was 9pm on a Monday night when we went into Coco Cubano at the edge of Surry Hills and asked were they still serving food as their menu stated 'food served till late'. He said it might take a little while as they were short-staffed.

The menu was pretty good with burgers and fish and chips at $15, nachos at $15 also and a range of tapas dishes and pizza at an even lower price.

I ordered two chicken burgers to which i was informed they were out of chicken! I thought this was a little unprofessional. But we ordered the nachos to start and two beef burgers. The nachos came out in enough time but the edges of the nachos were burnt badly and the rest of them were so soggy and fell apart easily. They were also stuck to the plate making them difficult to eat. When i went in to ask for cutlery the bar girl just pointed to where they were! The other bar guy was very friendly though.

The burger was ok with a nice bun. All 6 of the big, chunky chips were also nice. Our drinks were good too.

I take into consideration that it may have been an off night and they were short-staffed but i was not pleased in general.

The bar has a good atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating and a Cuban theme throughout. It's nice and atmospheric minus the noise from the busy road it is located beside.
