Well this has nothing to do with travel but i would like to share with
you some pictures of my two animals. These two beautiful creatures
entered our lives in the summer of 2006 and have thrilled and
exasperated us in equal measure. They each have a unique personality
particular to themselves. Rommel is a right aul slob whose bum wags
(rottweilers tails are always removed after birth) enthusiasticaly at
pretty much anything, which on occasion gives the impression that,
rather tha…

Bought a ticket for 62 euro roundtrip from Dublin to Cove on the train. However, we learned later that bus tickets were only 18 euro roundtrip, oopsy. Newsflash: the Ireland country side is very green. We choose to visit Cove (Cobh if you are Irish) because we could not find a hotel in Cork. But having said that, it was really nice to see this out of the way, quaint town. This town is famous for 2 huge historical events. This town is first famous for aiding…

After my exam today I drove down to Fota Gardens and Arboretum near Cobh, Co. Cork. As is customary in my blogs, I got down there just before it was closing, so only got to spend half an hour there. The gardens are beautiful, and extremely peaceful. Located adjacent to Fota Wildlife Park, the gardens feature many distinctive trees and plants. Anyone interested in botany will love the place! There is a pleasure garden here aswell, but unfortunately it closes at 4.30pm so I didn't get to go in.…

Today was the day I had decided to make my first of 2 hikes while on vacation. I had decided to get up around 0700 and hike out to Charles Fort. I was giving myself 3 hours to make the hike, get back and take a shower, as I wanted to go on a day trip to Cobh (pronounced Cove). See my Hiking blogs for the details of the hike.
I got back to the hotel around 09:30, and all I wanted to do was take a nice warm shower and get into some fresh clothes. The bus was leaving at 10:00 for Cobh, so I tho…

First of all, I had no idea Cohb even existed, much less had so much history. It is a beautiful seaport town. Brenda and I ate lunch across the street from the dock where the Titanic launched. A small city, with crazy traffic, but what you would picture for a small Irish city. Cool, rainy, windy and yet, welcoming at every turn.
It seems like every town we visit the stew all has its own unique taste. Yet it seems every town uses Guinness as a base for all stews. Yumm! A nice cold Guinness an…
