Great fish 'n' chips, lovely view Aug 31, 2012
This Fish 'n' Chip restaurant has been awarded a number of prizes, so it was recommended to us as a place to visit as I was keen to have some British grub on a recent visit to the UK.

Located on South Beach at Blyth the car park is huge, catering for the popular seaside too.

Not actually a fish eater I went for my favourite - battered sausage and chips, and Charlotte went for the fish and chips.

We weren't disappointed.

The portions are more than generous, perhaps if we had known we'd have just shared some chips between us.. Everything tasted fresh and crispy and wasn't soggy - until we added our salt and vinegar of course ;-)

The restaurant was styled as a 50s diner, although who wants to sit inside when you can sit 200m from the place on a wall overlooking the beach and the sea.

Price wise it's a little more expensive than your centre of town chip shops in the North East, but still very reasonable.

Fish and chips is a British institution and any visitor to the UK should have some. Some places are better than others. This is definitely one of the better ones with fresh caught fish from the North Sea landed daily and used.

There is also an ice cream parlour attached to the chippie, but we were too full to even consider it.

And be prepared for long queues - it's a sign of how good the place is, although they do move quickly.

Opening hours board, this differed…
Plenty of tills to take your order…
50s inspired diner restaurant.
