Club Spree

Being only about three years old, the club is relatively new, and inside it still shows....it looks and feels newish. Very popular with university students and middle income to high income Kenyans, though at times it can be quite touristy. Entry fee is usually Kshs 200 ($3) on Fridays and Saturdays, public holidays, and free entry on other days.

The place is generally very clean, and the crowd is pleasant. Most girls are out for a dance, and nothing more, they are usually not out to get you, unless you have a very abvious reason to be likeable...eg you are a white man alone (Kenyan girls are crazy about white men!) Drinks are reasonalbly affordable...(a beer for Kshs 150 ($2)....try Kenyan Lager Tusker, or Tusker Malt or Guiness.

The music is usually wild very loud, a delicately balanced blend of localz, hiphop, salsa and rock. It usually makes for a great night out dancing, but other times it is can be quite a flop.

On Fridays and Saturdays it is usually overcrowded...almost to the point of becoming a turn off. Due to overcrowding, fights occassionaly break out...but the security is rather tight, and brawls rarely last more than 20 secs. During weekdays, the nights are more pleasant, there will usually be enough people to make for a pleasant if not peaceful night out.

If you are alone sit at the counter, tip the waiter, and ask him to watch your drinks. To get a seat at the counter, you have to come in before 10pm.
