Club Mahindra Resort Varca Beach Goa Reviews

Expensive resort but the cleanliness and the privacy of it all makes it so worth it! Nov 02, 2012
The Club Mahindra chain of resorts across India represent the new modern India, the India where today's software engineers and doctors splurge on a spa holiday that was reserved for the "rich foreign tourists" back in the 80s, and the modern Indian that spends knowing he very well deserves to soak in the sun for his hard earned cash.

Varca Beach is one of the prime locations of Club Mahindra, and has, time and again been rated as one of their best. The resort is located about 35km from Panaji International airport, and the drive is more or less smooth for Indian standards, and we took less than an hour to reach the resort.

As check-in doesn't begin until 2pm and we were there at 10a, we had to wait in the very atmospheric reception/welcome hall as they served us tea, biscuits and fruit juice. The check-in process was very professional, and we were ushered into our rooms very promptly in the afternoon.

Depending on the season you book, your membership 'band' and the amount of days you want to stay in a resort, you can get a fairly good deal. We went during the "exam season" in India which means rooms were available. The bedroom (master and sofa-cum-bed) were comfortable, small TV but a good selection of cable channels, we had a kitchen that had a stove, coffee machine and a microwave, and the bathroom was also clean and well maintained. No wireless internet however which is a shame, it's available (and free) only in the reception hall.

There are 2-3 options for dining, but overall I thought was very expensive for both the quality and quantity of food. There are 2 swimming pools but have extremely weird operating hours (and both aren't in operation together, ever!)

The best part though, was the beach (see the blog for more details on another entry). Being so close to the beach, a PRIVATE beach was nothing short of amazing. Plus the staff were so nice they'd drop in the beach towels to our room and we could drop them off anywhere and they'd clean up!

Overall, I will recommend this resort to folks who are willing to fork out the money, and at times wait forever to get a room (as it's perpetually full).
