Club Dolphin Negombo Reviews

relaxing, good price/quality, great garden with pools Dec 24, 2009
We stayed in Club Hotel Dolphin (****) for 3 nights. Located right at the beach, 20 kilometres (half an hour driving) from Bandaranike International airport and about 15 minutes driving from Negombo town.

After a long flight it is very nice to get to your hotel in a short time. Reception and restaurant are (covered with a roof) in the open air. Spacious a/c rooms with (complimentary) coffee and tea facilities and a very effective mosquito repellent appliance. Rooms in the main building have a balcony or terrace with sea view, in the garden where cottages too. Building is three floors high, but no elevator. Something I missed in our room: a mini bar, or especially, the fridge!

Bathroom (with shower and hairdryer) was okay, but the cleanness of sanitary fittings in Sri Lanka are definitely of a different standard then mine.

The hotel offers an all-inclusive formula (which we didn’t have). Had the impression that many guests didn’t take one step outside the hotel complex.

Buffet style breakfast and dinner of good variety and quality! The Christmas dinner (see my blog) was just great! We paid extra for it (€ 37,50 a person), but it was worth of it.

Although right at the beach you couldn’t swim in the ocean (red flag). In the large hotel garden two pools. One with music and all kind of activities (for kids and adults). Another one the so called ‘quite’ pool, which I enjoyed very much. Beds and large towels provided by the pool attendant. Friendly staff!
