Club Dolphin Negombo Reviews
relaxing, good price/quality, great garden with pools Dec 24, 2009
We stayed in Club Hotel Dolphin (****) for 3 nights. Located right at the beach, 20 kilometres (half an hour driving) from Bandaranike International airport and about 15 minutes driving from Negombo town.
After a long flight it is very nice to get to your hotel in a short time. Reception and restaurant are (covered with a roof) in the open air. Spacious a/c rooms with (complimentary) coffee and tea facilities and a very effective mosquito repellent appliance. Rooms in the main building have a balcony or terrace with sea view, in the garden where cottages too. Building is three floors high, but no elevator. Something I missed in our room: a mini bar, or especially, the fridge!
Bathroom (with shower and hairdryer) was okay, but the cleanness of sanitary fittings in Sri Lanka are definitely of a different standard then mine.
The hotel offers an all-inclusive formula (which we didn’t have). Had the impression that many guests didn’t take one step outside the hotel complex.
Buffet style breakfast and dinner of good variety and quality! The Christmas dinner (see my blog) was just great! We paid extra for it (€ 37,50 a person), but it was worth of it.
Although right at the beach you couldn’t swim in the ocean (red flag). In the large hotel garden two pools. One with music and all kind of activities (for kids and adults). Another one the so called ‘quite’ pool, which I enjoyed very much. Beds and large towels provided by the pool attendant. Friendly staff!

Club Dolphin Overview
Club Hotel Dolphin is the place where fun takes precedence. The lush green gardens and the brilliant blues of the ocean serve as backdrops for action packed days in the tropical sun. At the same time, you could retreat with a book to a cozy alcove that is quiet and secluded, or laze on the beach with a frozen marguerita. In other words, Club Hotel Dolphin offers the best of both worlds within its palm fringed gardens. This sprawling hotel boasts of 96 deluxe main building rooms that are complete with AC, cable TV, DVD player, Tea/Coffee making facilities, hair dryer, piped music and telephone. Club Hotel Dolphin also offers its guests the option of staying in one of its 50 individual cottages that are additionally equipped with a mini bar. The discerning traveler on the other hand could opt to stay in one of the 02 suites at the hotel which additionally have a surround sound system, an in-room safe and a sitting area as well. Club Hotel Dolphin has the longest pool in Sri Lanka, and is the hub of all the action at the hotel. Guests are offered a wide choice of activities ranging from tennis, squash, volleyball and badminton to darts, archery, croquette and mini golf. The animation team keeps guests alive with activities such as water aerobics and a club dance to bingo nights, karaoke evenings, fire limbos and animation shows. For those who prefer something less pulsating, a relaxing spa treatment or a lazy afternoon by the quiet pool sounds perfect. Guests could also take an interesting tour of the Negombo churches that were built during the colonial period, or opt to visit Colombo on a shopping spree.
Spread across acres of palm and beach, close to the airport, the great fun beach hotel in Waikkal offers its guests the perfect holiday filled with fun and frolic. Whether its indulgence in succulent seafood, an action packed morning on the beach or a lazy afternoon by the quiet pool or at the spa, Club Hotel Dolphin is sure to serve your perfect cuppa.
