Our next real stop was in Clinton, Oklahoma, where the sight of the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum was. For a small fee you can go through many rooms which show how the famous road was over each ten year period, starting back when car and trucks were barely able to move. Each room played music from that era, and it was fun the go through that alone. The displays covered both the kinds of cars, but early areas showed a few of the tools and devices used to create the roads that made up Route 66. The …

Dodge City and the Santa Fe Trail

We were now riding right through the middle of America's Great Prarie.  This was the land of the "tornado in the distance" that we have seen so many times on the Weather Channel.    Flat and wide-open spaces spread out in every direction.   Cattle and sunflowers seem to be the "crop of choice" for the Kansas farmers.   Acres of yellow faces were smiling from their stalks as they waved and nodded in the wind.   We continued to ride south on Highway 83 to Gard…

I flew from Washington DC to Longbeach CA then my immediate family and I piled into a minivan for a superfast attempt at crossing the US. I took pictures, most of which are from the back seat of the tinted window minivan, but some of which are through the windshield and a few are actually from times we stopped. Enjoy.
