-Dont forget a torchlight - i advise a head mounted one so you have both hands free. you can get these in electrical stores in KK for ~$5-10
-warm gloves for the top section - i just used some cheap cotton gloves from a hardware store that i got for $1.
-the climb is quite temperate and shorts and t-shirts will suffice - I wore a singlet the whole time except for the last 2hours from the peak at 4am.
will want a warm jacket (but you dont need a big massive ski jacket - i'd recommend a few layers) and pants for the top section. also strongly advise beenie and scarf.
take at least 2x500ml bottles of water each.
You start the climb in the morning and should get to the hut after midday. then just relax and stretch and get an early sleep.
leave most of your stuff in the hut and get up at 2-3am and hike to the top to get there around 5am for dawn. then back down to the hut and should be at the base again after midday.
stretch as much as possible at every opportunity. the downclimb is really tough and your legs will turn to jelly.
We paid about 550RM and that included transport, guide, accom, and all meals. take extra cash just in case you want more water, batteries, hot chocolate, beer at the hut. take a small travel towel and change of jocks and top as you'll want to shower and change when you get to the hut.
take tiger balm!

BOOK AHEAD OF TIME. Do not listen to silly backpackers who say that you don't have to book ahead of time. It takes two days to summit and one day to decend- it may be a short hike but it's a tough one.
After the hike give yourself at least 3 days of pure relaxation- you will be beyond sore and tired.
