Well, first of all - POTENTIALLY it is a great site. The cliffs are hight and the whole scenery is the most dramatic.

This site is way-way-way too touristic. Instead of grass, and stones, and the feeling that you're going to fly (ok, fall), you have asphalt, and pavings, and visitor center that would do fine as an embassy for a mid-range European country, and walls to the edge, and lots of signs forbidding all kinds of things. I swear, I have seen shopping malls that were less handicapped friendly!

This place is supposed to be a nature's wonder (which it is), but the atmosphere is just not there because of all the things around it.

The entry is free, IIRC, possibly you have to pay if you want to enter the museum - I didn't because it was late and the guards already planned to leave; however you have to pay for the parking and that was the most expensive parking I've seen in Ireland (as if there's a parking problem in Ireland with it's population of 1 man and 1 sheep per square km!).

The bottom line - worth a visit if you don't set your expectations too high and ok with what USED TO BE a natural wonder and became a touristic site. If you want to see the real nature, head North to Donegal and Sligo.

A visit to the Cliffs of Moher are a must for anyone in the west of

Ireland. It's not a far trip from either Galway or Cork and there are

bus lines that can get you there. The cliffs themselves stand 230

meters above the ground at the highest point and offer spectacular

views. If it's a clear day, you can see the Aran Islands in Galway Bay.

I suggest you dress warmly no matter the time of the year. The winds

can get fairly strong all the way above the Atlantic. There are no

safety barriers so explore at your own risk!

I was there on a beautiful sunny day in March and the experience I had

on the cliffs gave a whole new meaning to the Emerald Isle!!
