Cleopatra Odessa Reviews
budget acommodation with a jacuzzi? Apr 11, 2010
I booked the Hotel Cleopatra via the apartment booking agency at the Odessa train station. I am not even sure this place can be booked directly.
This is not really a hotel, but more a collection of apartments spread out over the top two floors of a residential building. There is a receptionist available who will take your money and generally ignores any questions not asked in Russian, but that is part of the charm.
I was given the smallest room they have to offer, and even this was a very spacious loft studio apartment with a king-size bed, a large seating area, TV and even a jacuzzi! And all that for $25, which is the same price as a dorm bed in this town!
In the lobby/general seating area wi-fi is available, though it is unclear whether this is offered by the hotel or that you are breaking in to the neighbour's connection. Alternatively almost every café in town offers wi-fi anyway.
There is no breakfast or any other food available, but there is a popular pizza place located on the ground floor the building, and a branch of Top Sandwich (great place for coffee and breakfast) is located just three doors down the road.
The hotel is situated smack in the city centre, only one block down from the City Park and the cathedral. Vul Sadova is an extension of the city's main pedestrian zone Vul Derybasivska.
The famous Potemkin steps and its pleasant surrounding area are a mere 10 minute walk away.
