Classic Rock Cafe - Bandung
Classic Rock Cafe - Bandung Reviews
For Those About to Rock Jul 18, 2011
The Classic Rock Cafe is located in the old town part of Bandung. You can't miss the larger than life sign of Jimmie Hendrix and other rockers out front in the street. If you like 70s rock n' roll, you will love this place.
The inside is plastered with posters, signs, guitars, and even a life-like head of Gene Simmons (which is the centerpiece). Each table has a vinyl record under the glass with the name of a band, but the most impressive thing I found were the menus: complete with a vinyl record that pulls out that lists their specials. As you look around this rock n' roll shrine, KISS seems to be the most featured band (it's reported that Gene Simmons has even been here), but they also have sections of the walls reserved for the likes of the Stones, Queen, the Doors, Led Zepplin, and AC/DC. As you would imagine, the music they play is classic rock from the 70s.
They have a live band every night at 10PM, although we left when they were just setting up. We didn't eat dinner here but I did get what they call their girlie nachos that comes with a draught beer. The cafe seems a bit small, especially when you consider that a live band plays here. They also have an upstairs that overlooks the stage and main part of the cafe, but it too is a small area.
The prices are just a bit higher than most of the places in Bandung, but it's a good atmosphere filled with a lot of nostalgia. You might even consider it a small rock n' roll museum, so taking in that consideration, it's well worth a visit while in Bandung.
