Clarion Hotel Admiral Bergen Reviews
A conveniet place to stay Oct 17, 2010
Clarion Hotel Admiral is situated in an old warehouse from 1906. The hotel welcomed its first guests in 1987. Located in the heart of the city centre with enchanting views of the wharf (the World Heritage site, Bryggen), the harbor and Fløien. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate in a maritime environment. The reception staff was friendly and helpful.
The rooms are not very big, but conveniently enough. Facilities like minibar and flat screen TV were there, but I wish there had been coffee/tea making facilities in the room. WI-FI was free. If you don´t have your own laptop, you can use the guest PC in the lobby. The bed was nice, but a bit narrow for two people. Some rooms have a nice seeview, mine did not. My room was facing a courtyard, which made the room a bit stuffy. Even with the window open it was hard to get fresh air to circulate. Clarion Hotel Admiral is one of the few hotels I have stayed in in Norway that have 24 hour room service.
The bathroom was not very big, but very clean with its white tiles. The only thing I found very strange was that the shower curtain also covered the toilet, which meant that after a shower the hole toilet was totally wet. See the photo in this review if you don´t understans what I mean.
The main restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. On a sunny summer day it is nice to enjoy a good meal on the terrace with Bergen's most beautiful views. We arrived late, so I did not have dinner there, but I did enjoy a great breakfast buffet. Even though it had a lot of things I would not have for breakfast (crayfish, shrimps ans mussles), it was all nicely presented and very inviting. The waiters were just the sweetest. The Lobby Bar is a good place for a cup of coffee or a drink.
The hotel does not have any fitness room, but they have an agreement with a fitness club only a 5 minutes walk form the hotel, but be ware, it´s not free, they will charge 90 NOK/15USD to your room.
Clarion Hotel Admiral is a good place to stay if you are in Bergen. It´s very central and close to everyting. I would stay there again.
