Clarion Collection Hotel Grand Bodo Reviews
Complete contrast Apr 25, 2003
The website given is for the Bodin Church. If you want one for Bodø's modern cathefral, you could try http://travel.mapsofworld.com/norway/bodo-tourist-attractions/bodo-cathdral-bodo.html
We went in one of those articulated tourist efforts that meet the Hurtigruten boats at Bodø Quayside. We only parked to see the exterior of the Bodin Church but we did get into the Cathedral, which was closed to the public at that time.
The contrast comes in the date. The Bodin Church dates back to the 12th century, whereas the cathedral was built in the 1950s. Many of north Norway's churches are of recent (post WW2) construction and I don't know how the Bodin Church avoided the fate of so many of the older churches.
Apparently the Cathedral was the first church in Norway to have a detached belltower.
