In Ciudad Bolivar airport we were picked up by the guys from the Tour Operator and posada owner Gekko Tours. It's a German travel agency, trustworthy and good value for money. It's Gekko Tours who own all the small Cessna planes taking tourists to Canaima. They also run different posadas throughout…

Caught our plane back to Ciudad Bolivar this morning - a little rougher than the trip up, but still fine. Had McDonalds for lunch, the first time in months, and did some internet updating to find out what`s been happening in the world. On the way back, found a terrific little shop calle…

We went to the Iesus Soto Museum. He is the inventor of Cinetisism (sp?) and the museum was quite fascinating. The upstairs classics section is the best. His art is the kind of stuff you would expect to see in one of these optical illusions that come around by email every once in a while but I thin…

I have also visited the Gran Sabana, Ciudad Bolivar, Cartagena and Tovar during this trip. Table top mountains, tropical city scene, beautiful beaches and Spanish forts, and even a German colony in the hills, this trip had it all

We arrived back in Bolivar from Canaima at about 5pm so luckily we had about an hour to grab some food before everything s…

Chamos, como esta la vaina?
From Puerto La Cruz I took a night-bus to Ciudad Bolivar. As I fell asleep, I missed the stop and ended up in a town called San Felix, 100km too far, in the middle of the night. There was little more I could do than just waiting for the first bus back to Ciudad Bolivar.…

Wake-up was at 0600 to give enough time to shower and meet downstairs at 0630. We all piled into a minibus along with our Spanish-only speaking driver & headed off through Caracas. After a while we stopped off for an authentic Venezuelan breakfast of Arepas with Chorizo, coffee &am…
