Citylife Wellington Reviews
In the heart of things Jan 06, 2010
This hotel is right on Lambton Quay. The most interesting fact is that as you would expect, you can enter the building from the road but then have to get the lift to your floor. Not so unusual but entering from that side, if you want to go to reception, you have to go up to the 5th floor.
We had a car so had to find our way into the back of the hotel, where reception is on that level.
Although you can drive up to reception doors, there is not much room for turning the car around or parking. Andrew drove us to the door, we and the staff took the luggage out and then Andrew took the parking permit for the car and parked nearby. It is an open carpark though, not a security park.
We checked in and then went down to our appartment on the 3rd floor.
Our appartment overlooked the road but was high enough up that there were no noise problems.
We had the basics here, including a washer and dryer in the bathroom. We chose to walk down to the supermarket and get some things just to heat up in the microwave although there is a small kitchen, so we could have cooked a meal if we wanted to.
The location was good for us to go for a walk and also really close to the Cable car, which is one thing that we wanted.
We only stayed one night but had most of the following day in Wellington and did not want to use the car til late in the day as we wanted to walk around. Upon checking out, we asked if we could leave the car in their permit parking area and they were happy for us to do that as long as we moved the car before 5pm. That suited us perfectly.
The CityLife has 1 and 2 bedroom appartments and is in a great location. I would stay there again without any problems.
