City walls Obidos Reviews
The highlight of town Sep 09, 2010
Óbidos is located on a hill and the old city centre is still completely surrounded by a fortified wall. Behind the beautiful main city gate there are stairs that lead up the medieval walls and you can walk across the old walls. The path you can walk is very safe and gives excellent views over the small town, the surrounding houses outside the walls and the endless fields.
The path at the city walls is ‘interrupted’ by the old castle which is now a pousada. You can descend from the walls here and find stairs to get up the walls on the other side of the old fortress.
