Verona, Just a Cool City Dec 23, 2012
For a family vacation in 1993, we returned to the old stomping grounds of my father who lived in Northern Italy for two years. Verona was one of our destinations and was quite amazing. I remember two things really well.

1) The Roman Arena. Built in 30 AD, it is an impressive structure that is still in use today for the arts. Unfortunately, none were going on while we were there so I just got to see it from the outside.

2) Juliet's House. Verona was mentioned in three of Shakespeare's plays: Romeo and Juliet, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and The Taming of the Shrew. This house is a small medieval palace that had a balcony added in 1930 and has been designated as Juliet's house for the tourists.

I was young when we visited and definitely need to return. This trip wetted my appetite. :)
