Great place for Wine and Music Apr 02, 2010
After having stayed shortly in Blue Note due to the music which we didn’t enjoy we decided to visit the City Winery in order to see if they had any music to offer. The place is the brainchild of Michael Dorf, who also is founder of the iconic Knitting Factory. Here he wanted to create a space in Manhattan where he could combine his shared passions for wine and music.
We arrived pretty late because it turned out that most of the music stated at 8 pm and also so this evening. We decided to enter anyway, at least to taste some of their wine or special beer. The place was nice and open; the crowd was still pretty good even though there was a closing atmosphere with the waiters; some of them were sitting counting the tips on some of the tables. We found a couple of seats in the bar and ordered a glass of wine for Maxime and a beer for me. The waitress was really friendly and we had a good talk to her about New York; she was a born and raised New Yorker. Her only outside experience had been a winter in Miami. We stayed there for a bit more than an hour and had a great time there. I actually managed to buy a ticket for a Moya Brennan concert for the coming Monday evening.
