City Plus Hostel Kowloon Reviews
City Plus Hostel, Kowloon, Hong Kong - For The Simple Budget Traveler Oct 08, 2011
We picked City Plus Hostel because it was relatively quite cheap and had okay ratings on HostelBookers, where we made our booking. We weren't looking for anything fancy because we'd be out most of the time and would only return to the hostel to sleep; City Plus Hostel served that purpose well. The rooms were very small and had no windows, but apparently most hostels in Hong Kong are the same way. If you're claustrophobic, this is not the place for you. The beds were also very small and narrow, which wasn't a problem for us because we're small people, but if you're big and tall I suggest going somewhere else, because you will not be comfortable here at all. The bathroom was also small; we had to sit sideways on the toilet bowl because there was no room in front of it. The TV was an old CRT one and very small, but we were tired after being out all day to watch any TV anyway.
Still, City Plus Hostel has the basics down pat, like air-conditioning, hot shower, housekeeping, and free room WiFi. It's also located near an MTR station at the heart of Hong Kong, and nothing beats the cheap price. Most of all, the staff was very friendly and helpful. (An aside: it still amazes us that the place is run by a single person, Dina. She does everything from manning the front desk, cleaning the rooms, changing the linens, doing the laundry, etc etc. We do hope that her boss has hired an extra hand by now.)
