they have in the rooms full bedding (duvet & pillow), towels, shampoo and soap provided. Dormitories: Bed linen, sheets and towels provided. they do not serve breakfast. On every floor, you can find a fully equipped kitchen. A small choice of food/beverages you will find at reception. Close to the hostel, you find some bakeries/cafeterias that serve breakfast.A children’s playground is available n the basement, with a fine BRIO train, games, toys and some children’s videos. they do have free day-lockers. Ask at reception for a padlock or use your own. You’ll find the lockers in the basement in addition to lockers in the room. they do have kitchen facilities as: microwave, stove, fridge, pans, dishes, cups and cutleries. Opening hours: 7am- 11pm and more over they have a free wifi access in all the building.

Basic Accomodation at City Hostel Geneva Sep 29, 2011
City Hostel Geneva is a fairly big hostel. It has a lot of rooms from what I observed. I forget how many floors but several. It seems fairly modern or renovated. It was clean. Reception is on the first floor to your right once you get buzzed in the front door.

Security here seems fairly decent. You need a key card to get in the front door and they monitor the front door fairly well to prevent someone just waiting for the door to open and then make their way in. Although I'm sure this could be done.

This is not your social headquarters type hostel. There are common areas. A TV room, a game room, computer room, etc... And if you're social you'll meet people but there is no bar or activities set up to bring you and your fellow travelers together. It is not an especially social atmosphere. It's not a bad atmosphere either. But if you're looking for the party hostel this is far from it.

There are kitchens available should you want to save some money and cook a meal or two. There is laundry facilities available but if I remember correctly only 4 machines; 2 dryers and 2 washers.

Location is decent. Not too far from the train station. Also not to far from the metro stop, which is free. And if you don't mind walking everything is accessible.

Overall this hostel is good for a place to rest and get cleaned up. It offers everything you need and the staff were polite and helpful. It's more like staying in a hotel though. And that may be what you want.

I stayed in the City Hostel in Geneva and was overwhelmingly impressed. It's one of the better hostels i've ever stayed in.

It's exceptionally clean, the rooms are excellent, clean and newly renovated, very friendly and helpful staff, it's just a 5 minute walk from the central train station, they give you a free public transport pass that is valid for your stay and will even get you to the airport.

They sell Swiss Army knives at the lowest prices possible, have very decent kitchens, fantastic bathrooms, lockers, games room, internet cafe, tv room, and there is also free wireless internet.

It's not right in the old town but it's a nice short walk and with the trams you can easily get anywhere.

I would highly recommend it as the only budget place to stay in Geneva.
