Cititel Penang Hotel Georgetown (Malaysia) Reviews
For the price, perfect, great location. Mar 21, 2009
I agree with Tom a previous poster, this is a great hotel, for being so central to everything, nightlife, China Town, Little India, & the shopping malls, plenty of things to see just by walking around, the old buildings are great to see, most are now heritage trust.
I've stayed here twice & the service in this hotel is good, the breakfast is quite a big spread, free newspaper delivered to the door, rooms arn't big, but for the price you're paying it's still worth it. No swimming pool, it's a jacuzzi, but more than big enough if you just want to cool off, so if you're after somewhere to sunbake, this would'nt be any good. At night all the hawker stalls open up, although plenty as well during the day, but a totally different atmosphere at night, plenty of English/Irish style pubs close by & discos for the younger set. Would definately stay again. |

Great location and affordable too! Mar 20, 2008
I was planing for a family vacation to Penang and came across the Cititel Penang from this site http://www.penanghotels.com.my/]which ultimately helped me in making the decision stay there. My family and I was pleasantly surprised in the location of the hotel which is smack right in the golden triangle of night entertainment in Penang. I was told by a friendly staff that we were at the "Upper Penang Road", and this is the most "happening" spot for night entertainment in Penang.
We were spoiled by the variety of food that was available in the hotel and also from the restaurants and street hawkers that seemed like they just appeared from nowhere, cos when we were exploring Penang Road during the afternoon; the street was without any signs of street hawkers whatsoever...It was just amazing that we could still see the rail tracks that was once used for the electric trams that used to ply the Penang road streets! It was sad that the services was stopped a long time back as I was told...wouldn't it be fabulous if these trams were still around, an environment friendly mode of transportation and a little piece of Penang history for all to enjoy. All in all, my family had a great time in Penang and we will definitely come back next year to the Cititel Penang. |
