Nice place to have fun May 07, 2011
Good place to go if you are looking for music, cultural entertainment and drinks! Shows, plays and fairs are some of the common attractions to see. Good drinks also, but cheaper beer in the surrounding area. It is a good option of show house in Lapa, center of culture and cheap nightlife in Rio.

Circo Voador is one of Rio's most traditional concert venues, and many great bands from Brazilian 80's rock scene started their careers playing there. The place was closed by the city mayor almost a decade ago, and was reopened, with local government aid, a few years ago. Since then, artists like Franz Ferdinand and Easy Star All-Stars (presenting "Dub Side of the Moon") have played at Circo. The place is designed kinda like a circus (which it was, originally), but it's entirely built with stage, bathrooms, dressing rooms for the artists backstage, food and drinks shops, and 2nd story seats. The atmosphere is usually loose and people go to Circo to have fun and listen to some good music, no matter what age you are. There are concerts every weekend and most of the weeks, and you might find - maybe in the same day! - different genres of music like rock, samba, reggae, funk, and plenty more. Tickets are sold at Circo before the concerts (and during some), but you should check local listings in case of a big event - sometimes, tickets are sold in advance.
