Cinespia - Cemetery Movie Screenings Travel Reviews

Oct 31, 2007
halloween in the cemetery watching a scary movie is AWESOME! especially, if there is a creepy movie. no, we do not sit on top of gravestones. there is a huge patch of grass where people picnic and watch the movies. the graves are not too far away though....

cinespia hosts cemetery movie screenings in the summer time until it gets cold. the movie is projected on to a wall. the one i went to was on halloween night and the movie was "the shining" with jack nicholson. REDRUM! REDRUM! REDRUM!

on halloween, feel free to dress up... or not. we saw an angel and a devil riding their bikes, a couple dressed as figs, ladies with REDRUM written in blood red on their forehead, men dressed in drag...

it is technically free to get in but there is a voluntary donation of $10 per person.

most folks do picnic and listen to a dj spin music while waiting for darkness to fall - they bring pizza, food or whatever as well as any booze they want to drink. i must admit that there were some organic smells that wafted our way as well. no barbecues or pets are allowed.

people bring blankets (lots of blankets as it does get cold at night) and/or low beach chairs (emphasis on the "low").

if you do go, bring the following:
1. blankets (to sit on)
2. low beach chair (to sit on comfortably)
3. a pillow (for comfort)
4. food - and lots of them
5. booze - and lots of them
6. candles - it just looks pretty at night
7. a blanket, a jacket, a scarf, socks and a beanie to keep you warm
8. trash bag - take your trash out!

They also offer movie screenings in the summer months; that's when I've gone. In the summer, it runs from May to September. August is the best time to go because the evenings tend to remain warm.

1-800-DAVE says: Los Angeles is, and rightfully so, a tourist mecca and should be seen by all. Parts of the city though seem to appear silent underneath the heavy heavy hysteria of life in the city that makes stars. As Sam Goldman said "God makes stars, it's our job to find them". In the middle of one of those ty...
Eric says: Lou is a tiny little wine bar/restaurant on Melrose and Vine, located in a tiny strip mall. From the outside there absolutely NO indication about what this place should be. There is a simple lighted sign above the bar saying "Lou", off-centered, in the plainest font possible, and the curtains are dr...
jenn79 says: The Greek Theatre is a wonderful open-air theatre in the hills of Los Angeles. Despite the prevalence of bugs, it is such a nice retreat and the perfect venue for live music. It is somewhat like the Hollywood Bowl, but smaller, more intimate, and in the middle of a canyon where sound echoes off the ...
