Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina 29, Rome, Italy
Ciampini Rome Reviews
Best ice cream in Rome Oct 20, 2010
Located in the fashionable area of Piazza San Lorenzo and near the paraliament, this place serves a great variety of food. I only went for the ice cream, so my review is not meant to be a comprehensive view of the whole place.
On first inspection, this just looks like an upmarket place to get a coffee or a quick bite to eat. It's not an obvious ice-cream place.
The range of ice cream is perhaps smaller than other places, but the variety will satisfy any taste and is worth more than one trip. The quality is excellent too - very natural, sweet enough, good quality ingredients and the temperature is just right too.
Available in cones or cups, I paid EUR 3 for a medium cup, and got the chocolate and pistacchio flavours. The price is very good value for money.
The customer service is good, but the atmmosphere and location does mean it feels slightly snooty and upmarket. Having said that, even as a budget backpacker, I didn't feel intimidated by the experience.
Perhaps the best ice cream in Rome and Italy that I have tasted. It's a bit of a secret, and I would definitely go there on any trip to Rome. Highly recommended.
