Nice place! Oct 10, 2011
Although this church is of medieval origin, it has been embellished and tweaked so much that the current state makes it difficult to label this as a certain type of church in architectural terms. The interior is definitely painted in a baroque style though, and it was being heavily restored when I visited the church. While it was difficult to really appreciate the art work, I thought this was a very cosy church and it had a very local feel to it. The tower outside is perhaps the distinctive feature of the church, and probably the key reason that I was drawn to it. It apparently is, or is in very good danger, of slanting a little. Maybe this will be Istria’s answer to Pisa’s leaning tower in the future! Fairly well attended by the locals, and they also sell some postcards and souvenirs if you want a memento of your trip. Photographs are allowed, but not flash photography.
