Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola Jul 02, 2013
Palacio dos Capitaes Generais is a large complex that was built by Jesuits some times in 18th century. Most of the building is full of government offices housing president and administration, but one end of the building hosts nice church called Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola. There is also a museum in the building but I did not get in. Church is very nice featuring bunch of chapels covered with kind of baroque wooden carvings and paintings. When I was there in June 2013, most of the wooden panels were being reconstructed or cleaned. From outside, this building does not look much as a church but more like part of the Palacio complex.
