17th c church now good for concerts and art. Mar 20, 2017
The 17th c baroque cathedral was built in 1664 as the chaple for the nearby hospital of the same name, but was severly damaged by a hurricane in 1730 and had to be almost completely rebuilt. In the 1940's it was due to be demolished as part of the ringway around the harbour, but the idea was forgotten after complaints and appeals by locals and certain members of the society. From 2000 it has been renovated and is now used for concerts and as an art gallery.
