Christmasmarket in Oberhausen
Christmasmarket in Oberhausen Reviews
market that gives you the real christmas-feeling Dec 19, 2009
We have driven to Oberhausen with the goal the Christmasmarket. Saturday morning 19th of December we were there. At that moment it 10 was degrees Celcius below zero. Fortunately the wind did not blow hard. The cold ‘cut’ in our faces though. At that moment there wasn’t laying any snow. The market had, by day, already a good Christmas-ambiance. There are wooden marketbooths, they look like small houses. You can buy anything at the booths. Mainly gluhwein, apfelpannkuche, bratworsten und so weiter. That is typical German Courts. Of course there are decorated christmastrees everywhere. Also turn mills for the children stand there. You hear Christmas music coming out the speakers.
At night, Christmas ambiance became way better, because then the christmaslights are more visible. For a lot of people this is a night out with good friends. That night it snowed. In the morning there was a layer of snow of 10 cm. Again we went to the Christmas market. Then the ‘picture’ was complete: there now even lay snow. It can’t become more Christmas than this :)
We had, however, expected that more booths that sell Christmas stuff, but only some sold Christmas stuff. You must consider it more as a night out. Drink and eat while you stroll at the market.
