When you go to Bethlehem in December it would be almost criminal to not go to the Christkindlmarket. The Christkindlmarket is located in the downtown historic district in Bethlehem and is a big draw during the Christmas Season.
The market is full of artisans from around the country showing off their handmade goods, such as ornaments, clocks, jewelry and many other assorted goods. When you walk in you are also greeted with live holiday music and many places to sit down and grab something to snack on. When we got to the door we were surprised to find that it cost $10 to get in. I have to say that I was a little disappointed in that. It is a place you go to buy things, that is like paying to go to Walmart or Target. We have a Christmas Marketplace in Union Square in NYC and it is free, that way people actually buy things. The fee really turned me off and I would not go again as a result of it. It really is too bad, because it is a cute setup and a great place to bring a family to and to pick up some great unique gifts. I really wish they would rethink the price or at least lower it. They would probably get more business that way, but that is just me… |
