Beautiful beach getaway Aug 16, 2012
Chrissi Island lies just south (8 km) of Ierapetra on the south end of the island of Crete, Greece. Unlike the rather rocky beaches of the southern parts of Crete, this island has mostly white, sandy beaches - ideal for spending a lazy day bathing in the sun and ocean in between all your busy sightseeing days on Crete.

You arrive on the island via ferry from Ierapetra. Free sunshades are available (2010). Next to lazy sun bathing and swimming in the beautiful crystal clear water, the island also inhabites a small chapel dedicated to Siant Nikolaos which can be visited.

During the high season in summer one or two taverns/restaurants are open on the island. But food and drink is rather expensive - so it is advisable to bring your own rations for day if possible.

If you happen to have time to visit this small getaway I'm sure you will enjoy it - if for a whole day or only a few hours, it's definetly worth a visit! :)
