Impressive Mosaics Jan 02, 2012
The place that you can find yourself in sumptuous times of Byzantium Empire. It's not famous as Hagia Sophia in Istanbul; however Chora Museum's mosaics are intacter than the ones in Hagia Sophia. It had built outside of Constantine's walls and it's located near Golden Horn. The building dates are 1077-1081.

This church has an inspiring atmosphere. A very important building from Byzantium period. It makes me feel nice to see the mosaics all around the chapel.

It's located in Fatih, easy to find the place. The museum has a small garden and you can find some souvenirs to buy in downstairs. One of a touchstone in Historical Peninsula.

a beautiful church ...mosque...and finally a museum with amazing mosaics Jul 12, 2010
I have been to many churches in istanbul, especially after seeing the hagia sofia, I hadnt expected to see any other churches with fascinating mosaics and painting in istanbul...However,I was so amazed after seeing the Chora Museum...

Going to the Chora Museum is little bit tricky..it is close to Edirnekapı or Miriadron (greek name)...if u get on the metro to the airport direction , it is just close to Ulubatlı Station...when U get off on the station ,u can just walk thru the walls of istanbul to the north...or u can just take a taxi...while u going to the chora museum, you can also visit Mihrimah Mosque ...after visiting the Chora Museum, you can visit Zeyrek Mosque , Fethiye Mosque as well..

At the museum, the admission is 15 Turkish liras..it was free for me because I am a museum card holder ...By the way, only turkish citizenships can get the museum card by paying 20 turkish liras...
