Although it opened in 1961 this wonderful and amazing model railroad began much earlier. The real beginning was back in 1945 when George Goff returned from service in World War II. He bought a Lionel Railroad set for his two year old son. It has grown ever since. And it is still growing. At this point there are twenty-two trains running at all times on a 1,700 square foot layout. If you are a railroad enthusiast this one will be right up your alley. There is more animation on this layout that on any layout I have ever seen. Animals in the zoo move their heads and wag their tails, farmers plow their fields, skiers shush their way down the mountain, skaters circle around the rink, there are two parades that make their way around the blocks of the small city, the circus acts swing and bounce, a fire truck comes to a house on fire and the firemen go up the ladder and use the hose to extinguish the fire. We made our way around this very large layout twice, seeing things we missed the first time around. Yes, I found this amazing, and if you like railroads you will too!!
