Cholula sits at about 7100' in a wide valley. It began to develope around 600 BC. There is a Olmec influence at this time in the pottery. The great pyramid construction began in this time frame. This structure was enlarged on 4 times. During the classic period Cholulas used talud-tabelero style of Teotihuacan and its pottery reflected influences from El Tajin. By the time the Spanish arrived the great pyramid was the largest structure by volume in the New World. Cholula grew into a large ceremonial center with 365 temples. Cholula may have been occupied continually from its beginnings around 600BC until after the arrival of the Spanish.

Cholula es una ciudad ubicada en Puebla al occidente de la Ciudad de México. Es fácil llegar por la autopista a Puebla y les recomiendo visitar las ruinas aztecas que hay aquí.
Cuando llegan los conquistadores españoles en 1521 al mando de Hernán Cortés, desembarcan en lo que hoy es el Estado de Veracruz y toman rumbo a la ciudad de México-Tenochtitlán atraídos por los comentarios de los indígenas en relación con la gran riqueza del imperio Azteca en su trayecto se hacen aliados de los Tlaxcaltecas (enemigos de los aztecas)y se encaminan a la Ciudad de México. Cholula es el lugar donde se libra la primera batalla entre españoles y mexicas.
