Simplicity On A Thin Shoe String Feb 10, 2010
This hostel is right in the heart of Auckland, just off from Queen Street and effectively across the road from two Irish Bars, Father Teds & The Munster.
The staff are great. If you go, give Valerie a hug from me, she's a doll. The common area has a pool table, some new comfortable chairs, several couchs for watching the tv linked to a well stocked hard drive of movies.
The kitchen is a nightmare. There is barely enough room to swing a cat, if thats your thing. But with two ovens and hardly any cook ware, its really stretching what you can do without whilst travelling.
The rooms are ok if you are going for a double or a four bed. The large dorms where far too small to have so many beds crammed in their together.
In the evenings they had started to put Zumba on tv which was fun to laugh at lads trying to hit on girls by joining in.
There was a great atmosphere for the nights down in the common area and always somebody to share a drink with or hit the town.
So to sum up, terrible from the point of view of cooking and not having your food stolen from one of the fridges on each floor.
However there was always a good bunch of people there and a relaxed atmosphere.
