Ching Ching Cha Tea House Washington Reviews
A hidden gem of DC! Not for the coffee lover Sep 20, 2011
Wow! I can't even remember how I found this place, but I love it. The Ching Ching Cha House of Tea is situated in Georgetown area of Washington and if you don't know what to look for, you could walk right past the entrance.
The Ching Ching Cha House of Tea is a small place, but it houses several people for a variety of tea tastings and a small menu of food that put you in a mind set that is a world away. They describe themselves as "a tranquil, lovely space made serene with beautiful rosewood tables and chairs, platform seating with fluffy cushions, and walls that disappear into overhead skylights". Its been there since 1998, but I just found it a few weeks ago. Ching Ching is the name of the founder of the Tea House and Cha means "tea" in Chinese and hence the name of the place.
The Ching Ching Cha House of Tea is a calming, soothing and authentic setting making this an ideal place to enjoy the classic tea ritual. They have over 70 teas and you're not allowed to use sugar in your tea. They also sell tea pots, paper products, and furnishings.
If you're a local, put down the coffee cup and stop by for an indulgent afternoon in a faraway Chinese land. If you're visiting DC, this is an excellent place to spend 2 hours as you wander through the Georgetown area of DC. Enjoy-I'm sure you will!
