AVOID LUCKY STAR Oct 10, 2008
They are horrible! and will tell you lies to save their face.

I'm trying to let everyone know to beware of what could happen! Please be safe and choose another company.

This Saturday I bought 8:30AM ticket to go to Boston. Unfortunately they did not count heads before leaving the rest stop. I was left behind at Roy Rogers, CT. I caught the next Lucky Star bus 1 hour later. I gave the driver my ticket stub as proof of purchase.
Upon arrival in Boston, I spoke to Steven (the supervisor at South Station) who said that his driver denied ever stopping at Roy Rogers and that my possessions on that bus (contacts and food) were not found. The driver who picked me up from Roy Rogers did not confirm that he picked me up. He doesn't speak English! Steven said that he will let his manager Fu Mei know and will do an investigation of whether or not the driver stopped at Roy Rogers.

Steven promised that he will respond by Monday. I called Steven on Monday afternoon to ask about the respond and Steven said he will call in 1 hour with a response.

On Tuesday, after a confrontation Steven says his supervisor will respond by Wednesday at Noon. NEVER heard from them again.
I would not be wasting my time over this minor issue if I was lying about being left behind in CT.

It's so hard to believe that the driver could deny stopping at Roy Rogers when he clearly left a customer behind. It's also hard to believe that the driver who picked me up didn't even admit he picked me up. He even took my ticket stub.

You never know when you will have an unlucky day! don't leave faith in the hands of Lucky Star!!!

FUNG WAH BUS SERVICE Jun 06, 2008
I recently took the Fung Wah service to Boston for the first time on Memorial Weekend. The ride there wasn't so bad. The ride back was very traumatic. The driver got into a " battle of who has the biggest balls" competition with a SUV that cut him off. He was tailgating the SUV at 80 MPH, being less than 12" away from the bumper. I was sitting in the front seat nervously watching. All the passengers got really nervous, screaming for him to stop and asking for him to pull over. Of course, he had something to prove and the road rage went on for a good 10 minutes. It was until we passed a motorcycle fatality on the highway did he then proceed to slow down. I don't think saving money was worth the risk of my life on this bus service. I probably would not use this company again and maybe consider Greyhound or Peter Pan next time.

If you're ever in Boston and need to get to New York, think of the
Chinatown Busses.  Whether its Feng Wah or Lucky Star, you can
take a bus to New York for as little as $15 each way.  Busses
leave every hour, so you'll never have to wait very long to get
on.  Plus, you don't have to buy tickets until you get there, so
it makes for less hassle of planning.

A trip usually takes 4 hours without traffic, but sometimes can take as long as 5.5.

Yeah, the Chinatown buses are pretty cool. Very cheap. A good place to find a ticket is www.busjunction.com, makes it easy to compare between the different bus lines.

If you go on the greyhound website and get an eticket you can take the bus round trip for the same price as Fung Wah. The Fung Wah horror stories are true, and honestly I don't know how they are allowed to stay in business. With Greyhound, you leave from South Station as well, but you get into Port Authority which has the subway and cabs right there.

Good tip, I used Fung Wah bus each and every time I travelled to NY. I have heard some horror stories about spontaneous combustion and the likes, but it was always efficient for me, taking 4 hours every time. Whatever you do, remember where the bus stop is in Chinatown NYC! I have yet to meet a taxi driver who's heard of Fung Wah, so you'll have to guide them!

Oh, and an update...Fung Wah and Lucky Star buses now leave from South Station's Bus Terminal, and not Chinatown (in Boston).
