This is my adventures in China in the summer of 2008. I spent 37 days in China traveling around with my brother. I am slowly, very slowly adding pictures and journals about what we did. So far this includes the Great Wall at Mutianyu, Sanjiang and Shaolin Temple. Eventually it will cover everything we did.

Xiamen is a lovely Place !! It is very different than the rest of China. It is a city, but it is along the beach, and although you will rarely find people actually on the beach during the day ( they are packed at night oddly enough), it still kind of has that beach-y mentality. It is a little more relaxed and calm. UNLESS you are in a cab, then hold on for dear life !! More than a few times I have feared for my life, like yesterday when my cabbie thought it was a great idea to pass a car on t…

Ok ok, so its been a long time since I've written a blog. Sorry guys, I've been real, real busy! Well since Shanghai, its been pretty much back to normal. Well when i mean normal, wake up at 7am and head to the hospital for more fun fun anf fun. In the last 2 weeks, I have been in rheumatology one week and last week respiratory. I have to admit Rheumatology was a bit of a drag!! and the only person to blame is not the doctors, but the very slow and annoying english translator!! I now know how…

There's really nothing to do in Tanggu except to go to Tianjin. So here is some stuff about the boat.
The ride took about 27 hours which was 2 hours over schedule. But I heard that it could take up to 4 hours longer than the 25 hours posted on the Tian Ren web site.
The Tian Ren is a Panamanian boat, hence the flag and the word "Panama" printed on all the life savers and rafts. What is a Panamanian boat doing sailing between Korea and China? Yo no se. But this Panamanian vessel …

The last week or so in Beijing has been great. It hasn't been hard adjusting at all. After a few days of rainy weather, it has become a lot more stable and either it isn't as smoggy or it isn't bothering me as much. I am also getting the hang of campus (I got lost a lot...) and riding my bike everywhere. I actually like the bikes a lot, they make it really convenient!
There isn't really a lot to mention from last week. Went to a hotpot restuarant -- basically a …

The third day of our stay we were gong to visit “The Great Wall” something that I had looked forward to since I was a little boy watching old black and white movies about the emperor of China. We had bought the tickets the day before and were going to be picked up from the hotel just before midday. The trip was including two other obligatory tourist visits which I didn’t have the big feeling regarding; a visit to a pottery and a visit at a Chinese teahouse.
We were 8 people in…

Well folks, this is the end of the road...I'm so sad that this summer passed by so quickly! But I am definitely ready to get back to the US...and eat some friggin Mexican food! But seriously, the things we take for granted in the US such as hot showers whenever you want, clean air, spit-free sidewalks, drinkable tap water (with flouride!), medicine at the grocery store, and a plethora of food choices...all of these things start to seem very nice when you haven't had them for a while. All of t…

Woke to a cool grey day ... or maybe brown ... very often the sky in China is brown due to pollution, desert dust or whatever other reason.
Climbed up to Solitary Beauty Peak then visited the Seven Star Park. The Peak is one of the several outcrops in town ... it provided a good outlook of the area.
Seven Star Park is a weird combination of a public park, amusement park, zoo, temple etc that also incoporates a large winding cave. The cave was probably the hig…
