Chilliwack is known as 'The Great Outside' and you don't have too look far to discover why. Chilliwack is a great base to explore the Fraser Valley. 15 minutes east is Bridal Falls, Canada's 6th tallest waterfall, a popular launch site for paragliding and handgliding and is adjacent to world-class Minter Gardens. Nearby communities to explore include Harrison Hot Springs and Hope.
The Prospera Centre houses 2 of Chilliwack's 4 NHL size ice rinks and is home to the WHL's Chilliwack Bruins. Chilliwack's roots are predominantly agricultural and its' drive-thru corn barns are still a feature in late Summer. Chilliwack also has a vibrant and diverse arts community so why not take one of the local self-guided tours and visit local artisans and agri-tourism venues when you visit 'The Great Outside.'

My 5 day trip to Chilliwack, BC was fun-filled action packed adventure. There was hiking, boating, fishing, skiing all in beautiful surroundings. No wonder they call this place the Great Outside. I have to bring the family back in the Summer for all the outdoor attractions and next time I have to get in a few rounds of golf at one of the numerous courses in the area.

Taking the opportunity to travel a little way outside Vancouver to Chilliwack, I checked out the gorgeous Minter Gardens there. It was hard not to take endless photos of the stunning landscape and flowers there... as you can see! ;)
