Chilkoot Charlie's

First of all, I haven't seen thousands of bar but I have seen enough. So depending on my experience I can say that Chilkoot Charlie's is the best bar I've ever been in my life.

Chilkoot Charlie's (or Koots) is locatead at Spenard district of Anchorage. It is very close to Ted Stevens Airport. Going there is pretty is because it is the most popular spot of the city and everyone knows it. You can just say cab driver you want to go to Koots and that's it.

Koots is not just more than a bar. It has 4 different stages and 10 bars. You can enjoy different types of music at each stage. Main stage mostly hosts live rock performances. You can listen to awesome local bands or if you are lucky some famous national bands there. Other than rock R&B and hip-hop is played most of the time at the main stage. If you don't want to listen live music you can just step up to another stage to listen techno or trance and dance like a crazy :)

I went there late at night and didn't eat anything but as far as I heard they also serve delicious food there, especially sandwiches. You can also enjoy yourself by playing billiards or dart at Koots and listen to the music at the same time. They have a lot of options for everyone.

The place is designed very authentically according to Alaskan traditions and stuff. It is built with wood and looks great from outside. There is 3-5 dollars entrance fee but I am not sure if it's valid for every night. It may be valid only when there is a live performance.

To sum up; Koot's is not famous only in Alaska it was picked #1 Bar in US by Playboy magazine in 2000 and Maxim magazine in 2006(I may be wrong but a friend from Anchorage told me this). If you go to Anchorage one day do not come back without visiting Chilkoot Charlie's or you will miss a lot!!! I can go to Anchorage just to go to Chilkoot Charlie's again!!!
