Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena Rome Reviews
Baroque grandeur Oct 20, 2010
Situated in the historic Campo Marzo area of Rome, the church of Santa Maria Maddalena is a very impressive church to visit. Built in the seventeenth century, the church is decorated in a baroque style.
Over the next forty or fifty years, various artists such as de Rossi worked within the church to ensure that it was fully decorated. At the time of my visit, the ceiling was being heavily restored. However, from what was visible, the artwork is amazing (photos are viewable in my Italy blog for the Rome entry of 20 October).
Photography is allowed inside and there is no entrance fee. The church attracts a very small stream of worshippers and tourists.
If you are near this area, I would definitely make a visit here.
