Chiesa di S. Anna Jan 08, 2017
The Chiesa di Sant'Anna can be found on Via Mazzini, considered to be the centre of this large village, and was built in the eighteenth century under the design of Giovan Battista Caniana as an addition to the sixteenth century buildings already in existence.

The building is used by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart Convent and is of Greek cross design. The choir is the work of Fantoni.

The entrance is through a triple archway (photo 1) which leads to a light, airy interior which is decorated with spectacular trompe-l'oeil (photos 2 and 4).

During my research for this tip, I found an interesting Youtube clip which shows a thief who entered the church in October 2011. The thief stole sacred items from the altar of Madonna del Carmine, but was unaware that the church was monitored on CCTV and the images were uploaded to Youtube.

The church hosts occasional concerts.
