Frescoes! Apr 29, 2011
As this church building is normal looking enough, it’s hard to believe that it’s been around since the eleventh century. It is situated right in the heart of Spello and is best known for its collection of frescoes which were painted in the fourteenth century. The colours are really beautiful and the scenes vivid. I think the lighting here is very good too - not too bright to protect the frescoes but bright enough to allow visitors to get a decent view of them. Furthermore, the church is known for the painting by Pinturicchio. It is rather well done and worth a detailed look. Photography is allowed, which is very generous, and entrance is free. Definitely worth visiting if you are Spello.
