Chiesa di San Bartolomeo Bologna Reviews
Great interior, inspiring procession Oct 10, 2010
The church of San Bartolomeo was founded around the fifteenth or sixteenth century and is beautifully decorated. I particularly like the artwork on the ceiling and within the dome.
Apart from the interior, I recommend you visit this church in the morning. I was there on a Sunday, and am not sure if it was a weekly occurrence or just on certain days, but they had this wonderful procession from the church entrance. Complete with incense, flowers and hymn-singing, the procession was a wonderful thing to see. It continues for a couple of hours and goes through various parts of central Bologna.
Entrance is free and photography is permitted inside (I’m not sure about flash photography though). This is definitely a working church and attracts some tourists too.
A wonderful church interior and definitely worth popping into.
