Although this church has been around near central Venice since the eleventh century, major reconstruction efforts were undertaken during the sixteenth century. The church is most famous for having a few paintings by Tintoretto on the left and right hand sides of the main altar, and considering that his work can be seen for free here, it’s worth stopping here just for these paintings in theory. And yet, they weren’t that impressive. They were great to see, but if I was not aware of the famous painter, I would have given them less attention than I did. Elsewhere, the chapels are decently decorated. Worth a very quick stop if you’re into Tintoretto.
