Quick visit Apr 23, 2011
Not far away from the duomo in Lucca, the Chiesa Santa Maria della Rosa is a very small church that is tucked away in such a away that many people would walk straight past it. The exterior of the building is rather plain but the interior gives a clear indication that it’s quite an old church. The interior has some great traces of frescoes which have worn away and not kept under good restoration. They are definitely from the medieval period though as the church was built in the fourteenth century. Though there’s not much to see here, and there aren’t any spectacular chapels or artworks on show here, it’s still work a very quick visit.
